Kristin was inspired as a child by her grandfather's slideshows of amazing family and travel photos. She loves anything vintage and is always on the lookout for new(old) props in vintage stores. She loves discovering interesting new locations and is always up for an adventure to somewhere new.
Kristin is also an artist and studied Fine Art at Grant MacEwan University. She has taken several years away from creating art while she has been busy raising her family, but has recently started drawing and painting again.
Kristin has recently renamed and rebranded her photography business, it was formally Kristin Hickman Art & Photographic Design. She wanted a name that was more personal to her and to honour her Grandpa Bexfield, who she attributes her love of photography. As a child whenever they had a family gathering, her Grandpa would put together a beautiful slideshow for them, photos that he had taken over a 40 year span, he captured so many moments from her father and aunt's childhood and then in later years many beautiful photos taken on their trips around the world. Her family cherished and looked forward to those wonderful slideshows. Another fond memory of her Grandpa was hearing him play the banjo, which he still played beautiful just a few years before he passed away at 101. Kristin says, "I can't think of Grandpa without thinking of the color red, it was his favourite!" And so it came to be Red Banjo Studios.
